The Black Hills have long been a favorite spot of hikers, climbers, and outdoor enthusiasts. In 1998 Granite Sports first opened it's doors (in our hundred-year-old brick building) to meet the gear, guide, and apparel needs of the thriving outdoor community in the area. 

In 2006 Pat Wiederhold - a Hill City native - purchased the business as a real estate investment, but quickly fell in love with the outdoor adventure culture and the wonderful customers, and now he just can't seem to leave. Since then, we have continued to grow our product selection and expertise, and our love of exploring the Black Hills. 

Our ongoing mission is to provide locals and visitors alike a trusted place, quality product, and knowledgeable people to inspire and outfit your adventures.
